In answer to the large number of international students looking for cheap ways to study, many Canadian universities and colleges offer scholarships that don’t require IELTS or other tests of language skills.
The five grants below can help you reach your goal of going to college in Canada.
University of Carleton
Scholarship Program for New Students Carleton University in Ottawa has a number of grants for new students that do not require language tests. Students at both the undergraduate and graduate levels can apply for these scholarships, which range from $1,000 to $16,000 per school year. Eligibility:
- Must be a student from outside the U.S.
- Must have a minimum undergraduate admissions score of 80% or 10.0/12. (graduate)
- Must have applied to Carleton University for a full-time bachelor or graduate programme
Application Process:
- There is no need for a different application. Those who want to go to Carleton University will automatically be considered for the grants when they apply.
- For the fall term, the scholarship application date is March 1, and for the winter term, it is November 15.
Concordia College
Scholarships for Excellence and Distinction Excellence and Distinction Scholarships are available to international students with good grades at Concordia University in Montreal. These grants pay for tuition and give a stipend to help with living costs. There are no language tests needed to get these grants. Winnipeg’s University
Scholarships from the President for World Leaders The President’s Scholarship for World Leaders is open to international students at the University of Winnipeg who want to take any undergraduate, graduate, or English language programme. - You must be a foreign student to be eligible.
- Must have an average acceptance rate of at least 80%
- Must have gone to a University of Winnipeg undergraduate, graduate, or English language programme.
How to Apply:
- Applicants must fill out the application form for admission to the University of Winnipeg and send it in by the deadline, along with any other required papers.
- Applicants must fill out a different application form for the President’s Scholarship for World Leaders and send it along with the required essay and letters of recommendation by the deadline.
- The last day to apply for a grant is June 1.
Saskatchewan’s university
Awards for international students International Students who enrol in any bachelor, graduate, or research-based programme at the University of Saskatchewan can get an International Student Award. Students with great grades can apply for these awards, which do not require tests of language skills. - The last day to apply for a grant is December 1.
British Columbia’s University
Award for the International Leader of Tomorrow The foreign Leader of Tomorrow Award is given out by the University of British Columbia to foreign students who show they are good leaders and do well in school. This award does not require tests of language skills and pays for education and living costs. Getting an application:
- Those who want to go to the University of British Columbia must fill out the application form and send it in by the deadline, along with the necessary supporting papers.
- Those who want to apply for the International Leader of Tomorrow Award must fill out a separate form and send it with the needed essays and letters of recommendation by the deadline.
- The last day to apply for the grant is December 10.
